I recently posted the above video on my Facebook account. One of my oldest and dearest friends offered her viewpoint of the video and I think that the conversation which will result can be one of controversy and a challenge to both of our ways of thinking (let me add that Rebecca and I both have a huge amount of respect for one another and I'm excited about what else she has to say). SO, this is where I ask for your input. I'll copy and paste the beginning of our thoughts and you can fill in the rest.
PLEASE, be respectful. I know this issue is big and we've all minded our Ps and Qs when I've brought it up before; so I would appreciate the same attitude this time around. Instead of entering your thoughts on abortion without a moment's hesitation, I recommend that you DO hesitate, watch the video (it's in two parts), listen to this amazing woman and then, after you've searched your heart, let me know how you feel. Love you, readers!!
Rebecca: "I hate abortion. I hate it. However, I would rather see a baby die in the womb than be raised by the state, or by a family that beats and molests them. Make no mistake, these babies are not wanted by their parents. As horrible as that is to think about, I do appreciate the element of mercy in abortion that spares these poor babies from enduring a life of rejection and hardship. Judge me if you will, but I believe that. I am not sure what the answer is to the abortion epidemic. It's ugly and murderous. I love my kids, but I would rather kill them myself than put them in the wrong hands where they will suffer forever because they are unwanted."
Sarah: "Thanks for your input, Rebecca! I love it when you comment on my stuff with your challenging viewpoints. Really, I do. I totally understand where you're coming from and I can see why you would feel that way. Actually, at first I was like, "Rebecca makes an amazing point and I have nothing to say back." But then, after I brushed my teeth (which is a prime time for me to think, btw) I began to remember all of the things that God did in the life of that amazing woman. And I also thought of all the things He does for anyone who endures suffering and pain. Of course, it is an automatic reaction for us to want to avoid pain and suffering in any degree and to protect any child from a lifetime of hardship. But, if Jesus promised us anything He promised us that we would be hated, that life will SUCK sometimes, that pain goes hand in hand with breathing, that suffering cannot be avoided AND that He is with us through every second of every minute of every hour of every day, teaching and comforting and making everything work for our good. Pain is not lost on Him. He knows suffering more than any of us could imagine. So, would it be better to snuff out a life because the chances of pain and a hard life are a reality? Or do we trust Jesus and His ways and His LOVE and His ability to rescue any child from the grips of Satan? Do we justify abortion and say, “At least they won’t know pain.” or be the hands and feet of Jesus as we reach out with unconditional love to those who have both been victims of abortion (I’m not just talking about the baby, here) and are born into this world of sin and despair? After all, babies born to the most responsible and loving parents will and could still endure their days in the shadow of pain, abandonment, and affliction. Should they have been aborted? No. No. No. No. There is no easy answer to this abortion epidemic. Obviously, the only answer is Jesus. But, we must be realistic, not everyone will accept His gift of salvation. Instead, I believe with my whole heart that we need to remain firm in our convictions and hold close to the Bible when it says that murder is wrong. Then, in the face of a fallen world, we need to trust Jesus and know that He holds each life in His tender, compassionate and loving hands. And He is asking that a life be allowed to exist so that He can be glorified in that life redeemed."

♫ Random Monday...On a Tuesday: 12/29/09
Time to play catch-up! I took almost a week of vacation, which included a break from almost all internets too.
Random Monday, done on a Tuesday.
*~ I love Chick-Fil-A, and it’s official, that’s not a secret. It’s sad that in a town of like 75,000 people I can walk in and say ”the usual” and they ring it up and make it. Plus, I got it for Chrismas! Win!
*~Christmas was odd this year. For a lot of reasons. See, we had to balance the girls between two families for the second year in a row. Christmas Eve was mine, Christmas Day was his…and Christmas morning just felt really lonely without them. We were soooooo blessed though, to be surrounded by such amazing family, that loved on me and my girls so much. It was also different because this was the last year we’re having it at my grandparents house. Next year is just gonna be strange. I may just stay in bed. Or serve my kids dinner and presents in their beds. ;)
*~I got to see Inglorious Bastards and Sherlock Holmes this weekend! Both were most excellent! I’d highly recommend a quiet atmosphere on a large TV for IB, it’s mostly in subtitles, and in German AND French, and can be hard to follow, and you’ll also hate it if you don’t like blood. Or Quentin Tarantino. Sherlock Holmes is best accompanied by a theatre audience, two Icee’s, and a free popcorn. Excellent flick…it’ll hang perfectly on my shelf with National Treasure.
*~Speaking of free popcorn? Did you know that they put butter flavoring on movie theatre popcorn, not actual butter? Yeah, this cute kid at the theatre told me. He said it was a secret, but I’m pretty sure I can trust you guys. The real question is…what IS butter flavoring?
*~I’ll admit it, the Twilight books continue to prove better than expected. They’re not up in my “favorite” list yet, but they’ve got me thinking if Brandon doesn’t work out, a vampire very well could be the next thing on my “must-have” qualities in men.
*~If you’re going to pick a fight, don’t be dramatic when it turns in to a battle.
*~When does Abortion occur? After the baby becomes a baby? I keep seeing all these ads for that "plan B" birth control, the "morning after pill" as its called, and it makes me think it's just an abortion for a really punctual person. Don't wanna get pregnant? Don't do the deed.
*~If anybody knows of a safe kid person in my general area, looking for an opportunity to read by a fire while listening to my kids sleep while I get a second job, please let me know.
*~Text messages after 11pm and before 7am will be ignored. Don’t take it personally.
*~I’ve got so much going on in my head that I’ve lost sleep and can’t concentrate. I’m cleaning my closets tonight to the sound of my girls giggles and maybe some serious Alanis Morissette chick music, hoping that all the answers were misplaced or buried there on accident. It’ll be ironic, don’t you think?
*~Picture of the day, posted on our Blogs Facebook wall (click here: Daily Offensive Fan Page) by my mamma:
*~Quotes of the day:
" I gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which I must stop and look fear in the face... I say to myself, I've lived through this and can take the next thing that comes along... We must do the things we think we cannot do."
"I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned."
Song of the Day:
It's The Only One You've Got by 3 Doors Down (lyrics posted below for anybody interested):
Yours Truly,
Nomz
It's The Only One You've Got lyrics
How do you know where
you're going when you
don't know where you've
been? You hide the shame
that you're not showing.
And you won't let anyone
in. A crowded street can
be a quiet place when
you're walking alone.
And now you think that
you're the only one who
doesn't have to try.
Then you won't have to fail.
If you're afraid to fly,
then I guess you never will.
Chorus:
You hide behind your
walls of maybe nevers.
Forgetting that there's
something more than just
knowing better. Your
mistakes do not define
you now, they tell you
who you're not. You've got
to live this life you're
given like it's the only
one you've got.
Memories have left you
broken and the scars have
never healed. The emptiness
in you is growing, there's
so little left to fill.
You're scared to look back
on the days before, but too
tired to move on. And now you
think that you're the only one
who doesn't have to try. Then
you won't have to fail.
If you're afraid to fly,
then I guess you never will.
(Chorus)
Ooh. And what would it take
to get you to say that I'll
try? And what would you say
if this was the last day of
your life?

Based on a True Story
It happens everday, all around us. Even despite the media's influence or seemingly convincing pro-choice logic, right decisions are made. Everyday. Let's keep it that way.

L♥ve Lets Live
Abortion, according to the medical dictionary is: the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus.
"Abortion is one of the most common surgical procedures in the world, but the average person knows almost nothing of its gruesome reality. Year after year, it lurks in the shadows, quietly destroying almost 4,000 innocent human beings a day in the U.S. and 130,000 a day worldwide. In the U.S., this is happening because seven Supreme Court Justices decided that abortion was a constitutionally protected act. Without a vote, without public debate, abortion came in through the back door, never having to bear up under the weight of significant public scrutiny. Today, abortion is a billion-dollar industry which enjoys the support of very influential people in very high places. High schools and universities go to great lengths to graphically expose the dangers of smoking, drunk-driving and STD’s, but take a pass when it comes to abortion."
In my opinion, abortion is: murder.
Whilst reading through articles from http://www.abort73.com/ (from where I got most of the following facts and the excerpt, above), I'm becoming a bit riled up at the total and complete unjustice of abortion- in more ways than one. Why kill an innocent child? Why not educate women (and men) about the procedures, realities and consequences of such a violent choice?
Primum non nocere! This Latin phrase meaning "First, do no harm" is one of the principal precepts guiding all medical intervention. Like the Hippocratic Oath, which also vows to "never do harm", it is a reminder that the physician's role is to heal, not to harm. While many surgical procedures carry the risk of harm, their intent is to provide healing for the patient. The explicit intent of abortion, however, is to harm the embryo or fetus to death.
What I really want to do is list out the main procedures, here, for you to read. However, they are so extensive that I do not want to make this blog too busy and, thus, discourage readers from taking in all of the valuable lessons. So, please, go here and see for yourself. If you can watch horror movies, or even the news, you can stomach this. Though pictures of aborted embryos and fetuses are shocking, they are no more shocking than the act of abortion itself. Until you see what abortion does, you will never accurately understand what abortion is. There are some things for which words alone fail to accurately communicate their brutality. Lets see how your heart can handle it- mine is still breaking.
I realize that this blog doesn't directly answer questions or highlight objections and responses- I am tempted, but ultimately want to direct people to read for themselves, from websites that are dedicated to getting the truth out there. We live in a world where love has grown cold; it is evident on tv, in movies and magazines, and in our every day lives. However, this is an area that we must not drop the ball on. Lives depend on our tenacity and pursuit of this truth.
If you're pregnant: help is around the corner.
If you've alreadya borted: recovery is possible.
If you perform abortions: it's not too late to walk away.
If you doubt that life even matters: look to the stars.
