Getting "Old"!?

For my female readers…and men, should you care about crappy lumpy skin. ;)

I turned 25 in November. I couldn’t believe how many people said things like “how does it feel to be a quarter of a century old?!”. You know, I didn’t feel old until questions like that started rolling in. Or a close friend…that’s only a bit younger…said “I hope I help you feel a little bit younger at least”. Ouch. You know, those comments don’t hit as deep as the realization of society’s rules on your age. Let me explain. When you’re sixteen and dating somebody 22, it’s inappropriate. You’re too young, they’re too old, it’s even against the law. 6 years difference. Then you turn 25. And all of a sudden men that are 32 are not only hitting on you, but you’re attracted to them…and it’s not only acceptable, but common. I didn’t feel “old” until I realized that I was attracted to someone “old” (my dads age?!?!)…and it was socially acceptable!

Getting older isn’t as tough as most make it out to be, at least not yet. If I could stay 25 for the rest of my life, I would. The body is still holding together. I like my eyes when I first wake up in the morning. I still bounce back after a night on the town. I can hang out with any age and it’s “acceptable”. Tis the life. Ahhh…

One thing I have begun to notice though, and a few friends of mine as well, is our skin. It’s not getting “old” yet. But one of the most disgusting words is either beginning, or is soon to be…”cellulite”. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Mine hasn’t begun, thank God…but I know it’s just around the bend, and most of my friends have seen the signs. This chick has done some research and found some interesting tidbits to help with the stuff that’s already developed, and also to prolong its coming. You’re welcome.

You need to eat anything and everything that contains vitamins, fiber, and minerals. Water is the biggest reducer, so ladies, drink up. Fruit is the most cleansing of all foods though. It’s packed with not only water …but the fiber, minerals, vitamins, and anti-aging anthocyanidins. Research as proved that those that don’t eat fruit age faster. Best fruits to focus on: apples, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, cantaloupe, cranberries, grapefruit, grapes, kiwi, mango, oranges, pineapple, raspberries, and strawberries. And, on a side note, according to a few blogs I read…you should start the day with a glass of hot water with a squeeze of lemon-it helps detox the liver and revitalize that blessed body.

Of course there are veggies that assist in anti-aging as well…for you fruit haters. Artichokes, Bell Peppers, Cabbage, Carrots, Cucumbers, Onions, Spinach, and Tomatoes (which, by the way, are so nasty I am still on a mission to prove they actually cause cancer…).

A few other things to much on to help prevent cellulite and improve your skin health (for those of us with adult acne that the doctors swore we’d grow out of): Almonds, Cashew’s, Sunflower Seeds, Poppy Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Chives, Garlic, Mustard, and Parsley.

Let me reiterate though, that water is the best preventative measure for healthy skin. They have proven that while it doesn’t detox your body…it does help circulation and better skin health.

So…eat your fruit! Drink your water! Avoid tomatoes! Chase old men! We only live once…but you only get one body (and one skin!) to live in…take care of it!

**Several blogs helped me find this information. Almost all of them had the same list of foods, and the hot water with lemon trick, but the biggest list of foods came from the following website. Thank you! :)

One fruit that is EXCELLENT for women is pomegranate- it's better than cranberry juice! And it's so yummy you can drink it even when you don't have a UTI!

Spinach is also the most beneficial veggie- it is the only green to have all vitamins and minerals your body needs.

But, my main point of this comment is.... who are you crushing on that is the same age as your dad??! I'm curious!!

And for the records, you're the freshest, cleanest, tightest, most beautiful 25 year old I know. :)
